Hoddle Street, Richmond

The Richmond centre is located on the fringe of the Melbourne CBD on the well-known and popular Hoddle Street.

The former Australia Post sorting facility was transformed into a 140 licenced place centre as well as the Victorian head office for our client.

Paying homage to the building’s past, the theme of the information sharing and community interrelation is noticeable throughout the centre, not least in its ‘Resource Exchange’ where redundant and unwanted materials are sourced from community businesses to be repurposed as resources for the education of children.

The industrial history of the building is also evident in the design of the yards where shipping containers, workshopping areas and recycled building materials are prominent features.

Besides its ground floor community kitchen and gardens, the building is also fitted with a conference centre, an education hub and staff training facilities for our client’s entire Victorian workforce.
