Mosman Studio I transformed a former real estate office—housed within the oldest building in Mosman—into a contemporary, functional commercial space while honouring its layered history. During demolition, as internal linings were peeled back, the building revealed traces of its past lives, from its early days as a butcher to its more recent role as a real estate office. Rather than conceal these stories, we chose to showcase them, leaving sections of the original timber lath ceilings exposed and opening up areas to celebrate its evolving character. Modern amenities, including mechanical ventilation and acoustic treatments for boardrooms and breakout spaces, were seamlessly integrated to ensure the fitout met contemporary standards for comfort and usability. The result is a workplace where history and modern function coexist, creating a space that is both rich in character and fit for the future.
